The opening round of the APBL playoffs began on Saturday, March 30th. In true March Madness style, the first weekend featured an upset as the sixth-seeded Manhattan Pride defeated the third-seeded Hudson Valley Kingz, 99-98.

Andrew Gould breaks single game assist record

Andrew Gould of the Manhattan Pride dishes out 14 assists in a 135-131 loss to NYC 524. Gould, the underrated point guard, had 29 points 9 rebounds and 10 assists in The Pride's loss to NYC 524. Gould would come back the next day and have a triple double in a loss against the Hudson Valley Kingz.

"The Manhattan Pride ended 2012 on a positive note both on and off the court. Although the team finished the month of December with a combined 2-3 record, the Pride won two of their last three games in the month. Their one loss was a 119-117 nail-biting loss to the Tri State Energy on December 30th.

Getting to know the Manhattan Pride: Rocco Rubino

Throughout this APBL season, we will highlight the Manhattan Pride roster, one player at a time.

Todays highlighted player is Rocco Rubino (6'2''-G-89, college: Hunter), a 6'3" guard from Brooklyn, New York. After playing his high school basketball at storied Archbishop Malloy, Rubino spent the first two years of his collegiate career at St. Francis College (NY). Rubino then spent the 2009-10 season with Hunter College, where he led the team in scoring by averaging 18.6 points per game. He also averaged 4.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
